The district of Abbotsford was the creation after the merger in the year 1972 with the District of Sumas and Abbotsford. The District of Matsqui then amalgamated with the District of Abbotsford during the year 1995, making Abbotsford City.

Fraser Valley's unique urban setting and its land areas provide varied outdoor experiences and adventures. The Matsquio Regional Park can be a haven for camping, biking, fishing and hiking. It could also be a good location to do some parachute jumping to see a bird's eye view of the whole Fraser Valley.
